What is an absolute Value of a Number?
Absolute Value of a number X is the non-negative value of X without regard to its sign. Also given as the distance of a number X from the center of coordinate axis (0,0) .
How to Find Absolute Value of a Number
To find absolute value of a real number we need to consider two cases.
- Case 1 : When a number is a positive i.e x > 0, then absolute value of positive number is number itself. for example modulus of 12 is |12| = 12.
- Case 2 : When a number is a negative i.e x < 0, then absolute value of a negative number is it's positive value. for example modulus of -10 is |-10| = 10.
